406th Veterans Treatment Program

 

A judicially supervised treatment program for veterans who are charged with misdemeanor/felony offenses.

A program offering non-traditional and individualized treatment for alcohol, substance abuse, mental health and/or psychological issues.

An environment with clear and specific expectations and goals. It features a team approach to rigorous treatment, coordinated with intensive supervision, random drug and alcohol testing, and regular and frequent court appearances.

A scientific method of addressing and treating addictions and behaviors in an effort to improve the participants' quality of life.

A program serving veterans and their families in Duval, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Starr, Webb and Zapata counties.

This program is supported by a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance provides grants to organizations serving veterans and their families. As well as a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

     

 

What is VTP?

The Veterans Treatment Program (VTP) is a voluntary Three-Phased program which may encompass 12 to 18 months in duration. However, compliance with VTP and treatment may be mandatory for individuals who are currently on probation. Initial treatment may vary from inpatient to outpatient services, and will depend on the individual's most current clinical assessment. Participation will require a payment of $500 program fee throughout treatment progression. The participants could earn weekly incentives that may be applied towards the fee.

Who is Eligible for VTP?

Screening for admittance into the VTP will be available to individuals who demonstrate military service through a DD214 Member 4 Copy/Enlisted or Officer Record Brief/Military Service Records and are detained at the Duval, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Starr, Webb or Zapata County Jail; currently on community supervision; and/or are awaiting a preliminary hearing before a Duval, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Starr, Webb or Zapata County Criminal Court. To qualify for admission into the VTP an individual must meet the following criteria.

•Be a resident and or have a case filed in Duval, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Starr, Webb or Zapata County;

•Have a pending misdemeanor or felony case in Duval, Jim Hogg, Jim Wells, Starr, Webb or Zapata County;

•Have been assessed with alcohol, substance abuse, mental health, and/or psychological issues; and

•Not have any other disqualifying factor(s).

The District Attorney's office will review each case for final eligibility approval.
