Commissioner Tijerina treats Kids to Lunch, Presents and a Day with Santa
Webb County Commissioner Rosaura "Wawi" Tijerina treated almost two-hundred kids to lunch with Santa. Children from the community centers in Precinct 2 were taken by van to Mariscos el Pescador on Zapata Highway where they enjoyed a warm meal and opened presents. The kids also enjoyed singing Christmas carols with Santa Claus.
   







Commissioner Tijerina's Clean Up Campaign In Rural Neighborhoods
Commissioner Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina & Self Help Center staff announced another major Colonia Clean-up Campaign for Hwy 359: Los Altos, Tanquesitos I & II, San Carlos I & II (San Enrique), Ranchitos 359 East and D-5 Acres.  The Clean-Up campaign took place on, Feb 27th & 28th, 2012 all residents who reside in those colonias were asked to participate in the clean-up campaign, not only for health and safety reasons, but also to improve the environment and quality of life for those living in and around these colonias.
   



Historical Event The Quad-City Fire Station Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Commissioner Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina held the official ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Quad-City Fire Station in Bruni, Texas on April 3, 2012.  The new state of the art fire station will bring some much needed services to the cities of Bruni, Mirando City, Oilton and Aguilares.

Webb County Increases Minimum Wage
Commissioner Tijerina placed two agenda items on Monday’s meeting August 13, 2012 in regards to raising the County’s minimum wage from $9.00 to $10.00 the second agenda item was a 2% cost of living increase for County retirees. Webb County Commissioners voted unanimous for the increases and included all Webb County employees for a 2.5% across the board increase. The increase goes into effect October first.



United Day School Computer Donation
Webb County Commissioners Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina & John C. Galo held a press conference Friday, February 1, 2013 to accept a donation of 50 computers from United Day School for use in Webb County Community Centers. United Day School Board of Directors President, Mr. Juan Canavati, Board Member Ana Galo, Head of School Sylvia Rendon and other personal were in attendance.
Webb County Awarded Grants
Webb County Commissioner Rosaura “Wawi” Tijerina held a press conference February 6, 2013 to announce details on the awarding of over one million dollars in grant monies to Webb County.
